Years of experience in schools as a teacher, associate, and aide

My Story

I discovered my love of teaching in 2008 while volunteering at a children’s hospital in Valhalla, NY. I was an assistant for the kindergarten class and a literacy tutor for high school seniors.

My first paid position as a teacher was in a Baltimore City Public Middle School, where I learned the basics of teaching, classroom management, and lesson planning. These formative years crystallized my love for teaching.

After graduating with my BA in English from JHU, I moved to Washington, DC. I spent a year finishing my MAT at JHU while student teaching as an associate at a wonderful independent school in the District. I had a chance to further hone my basic skills, while applying what I knew to my Master’s portfolio.

Next, I moved on to a lovely independent school in the suburbs of DC, in Kensington, MD. I called this school my home for 12 years. The school’s mission and ethos matched my own values and character, and I matured as a teacher. I still hold the school close to my heart.

After much discernment, I recognized it was time to switch paths. Thinking back on the experiences I had as a tutor, I saw how much I enjoyed working one-on-one with students and parents. In 2023, I decided to pursue private tutoring as my career.

When I am not teaching, I am highly active in the animal rescue community. I serve as the communication coordinator for a small animal rescue.

Lastly, and most importantly for my well-being, I am a dedicated practitioner of mindfulness in the Plum Village tradition. Finding joy in my in-breath and out-breath, existing in the present moment, and reflecting on my intentions have helped me as a teacher, family member, and friend. My goal, when possible, is to share my love for mindfulness with my students.

I hope we can find a time to work and learn together.

Breathing in. Breathing out. In Peace.
